The challenge
What made this hard
Live sports content arrives fast and unpredictably. Scores had to update in near real time, news from multiple sources needed normalising into one readable feed, and traffic spikes cluster tightly around fixtures.
Our approach
How we built it
- Built the front end in React with update patterns tuned for frequently-changing score data rather than static content.
- Integrated third-party sports APIs behind a normalisation layer, so a change or outage at one provider does not reshape the whole feed.
- Layered social and fan engagement features on top of the content core, so discussion sits alongside the live data rather than in a separate silo.
